It has become an annual tradition to bring the Utah Jazz Dunk team to Nu Skin during the NCAA March Madness Tournament. The team brings along trampolines to aid their high flying stunts and the president of Nu Skin even joined in on the fun. I was trying out some new camera lenses and having fun capturing the high flying feats. The new 16-35mm wide angle lens was particularly fun to show the feats while surrounded by employees.
It’s also a chance to practice sports photography in a darker building. Arenas can be dark to begin with, but they’re often brighter for television. The atrium at Nu Skin is lit by natural light during the day so conditions aren’t ideal for photography. So a f/2.8 lens and high ISO becomes important. So yes, camera gear is important.
And we want the hero moments… we’ll take about 10 photographs in hopes of getting one amazing photo. Expression, position, composition, light, and color all play a factor. Subject is king in photography.
