Touring Marina Del Rey in Los Angeles

by dav.d

For absolutely no reason, here are some boat photos! I was in Los Angeles to photograph behind the scenes of a product shoot for my day job. I was up really early and and an hour to kill so I photographed the marina in Marina del Rey.

I figured I could play with reflection and flip the boat upside down. It was a chance to be a bit relaxed in the photography. Photographing boats from the dock is a big challenge.

The overcast light wasn’t great but it definitely helped create a mood for the photos.

I personally got a kick out of this boat. It seems like someone isn’t quite rich enough, or they fallen on hard times and still wanted to reserve their space at the marina even if they don’t have their big yacht anymore.

I didn’t bring a really long lens for this photo, so it is a bit cropped but this was the cool photo for the morning. People out in the marina rowing. Perhaps this is their morning commute.
