A few years ago I photographed the kids in the Tolbert family. This year I was hired again to photograph them. It’s always smart to get regular photo shoots with your family. This time dad was there, there was a girl friend, and there was granddaughter. So lots of reasons for a new photo shoot.
This photo shoot was in the middle of winter… in January. The weather was below freezing and with a little kid we don’t have a lot of time till noses turn red and people start crying and/or fussing. We moved around Memory Grove trying to find unusual or different spots. We don’t want these photographs looking like other people’s.
I used my portable lighting kit which worked pretty will in the freezing cold. We did have to wait for the batteries to recycle a little bit longer. And the family was pleased as punch for the photos! And I’ll admit, it is fun to have repeat clients. Woo hoo!
For posing people… we get close but then we can treat them like a rock band and spread out a little. We also get some of the photos of individual groups such as boyfriend/girlfriend and mom/daughter. We always try and make time for the small units.
