Sunday in the Park with George by the Weber State Theater Department

by dav.d

I photographed the promotional photos for Weber State’s production of Sunday in the Park with George. It is based—to a small degree—on Georges Seurat’s painting A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte. We was a pointillist painter and the painting itself can be found in Chicago’s museum of art. It’s huge!

I started the photos light and airy and then I switched to a little more moody and brooding. It is amazing what you can do with just one light and some window light. It was an overcast day, and they may have wanted to photograph outside, but the weather wasn’t having it. So we used the design department’s building on campus.

We used two different rooms for the same shots. The different backgrounds give the marketers some options. And I love options.
