SKYFALL held their last circuit party of 2018. It was their White Party, so everyone wears white and hopefully white costumes. A lot of people in underwear and swimwear. Myself, I usually wear black when I photograph, cause I’m a rebel and I blend in better. Black also is slimming and professional looking. But enough about wardrobe choices… here are some photos from the night!
As usual, I was shooting some step-and-repeat or red carpet photos. I have a lighting setup I use to make everyone look awesome. In between I am roving the dance floor taking group photos and candid photos. I then photograph the main event, which was a costume contest. And I was shooting some 4K video with a GoPro 7 on a stabilizer because shooting photos and video at the same time is really challenging.
This circuit party had foam sprayed over the dance floor at different times of the night. They even had a balloon drop. I try to be prepared, but somethings are a surprise. Don’t surprise the photographers! We like to know the secrets so we have the right gear at the right place at the right time.
If you want awesome club photos, you need fun party lighting and just the right amount of fog. Too much fog and everyone goes blind and the flash bounces too much. Just the right and we see the colorful cones of light that really give the photos a great look. And finding the right balance of light is important… circuit parties can’t be too bright, but you want enough lights for the photographer to see what is happening and find that magic moment.
More club lighting to make everyone look cool.
This is my last time photographing the SKYFALL events. I might come in for special occasions, we’ll see. It’s a fun party if you have the chance to go.
