It has been forever and a day since I last photographed a dance club. I was hired by SKYFALL to photograph their military themed party night. They are trying to bring the circuit scene to Salt Lake City. They had me photographed a step-and-repeat which can also be called a red carpet. Usually it’s a large vinyl sign as the background. I brought in my lighting and it worked great.

SKYFALL has a number of VIP booths. If you drink, it’s a fun option. I don’t drink anymore, so I photograph these events stone cold sober. Years ago, I learned a ton about photographing in clubs and parties. It’s a bit different sober. As you can see, the practice paid off. The lighting for a club is a challenge and the smoke machine can be a blessing and a curse. And people want the photos ASAP.
