Senior portraits are a chance to capture who you are in high school. And remember, high school is just a stepping stone in your life. It’s a chance to look backwards and maybe a peek into what is to come.
I always grill a senior about the activities they participated in during high school. For Maren, she was big into choir and a capella choirs. She is also a graduate from Mountain View High School. So naturally, I photographed her in the heart of Provo on Center Street. The location has so much texture, backgrounds, and environments perfect for photography.
We also photograph your basic portrait. We shoot your headshots, 3/4 shots, and full length photos. We want to remember what you look like in high school. We did have some outfit changes. Some people keep it pretty simple others change every few minutes.
I also photograph vertical and horizontal photos. This way you have the perfect photograph for the right announcement or invitation.
I love graffiti. It’s a great background for our “model” or our subject. And when it has an uplifting message, even better.
And you can’t live in Utah and not have a photograph of the mountain range behind you. You need a long lens to get this perfect. This isn’t Kansas, Dorothy!
And Maren will be going to BYU next year. She and her cousin will be roommates. The family is excited!
Maren wants to study entrepreneurship. So we created some business style photographs. This looks like a cover for Business Weekly. If there was such a magazine. I’m sure there is; I’m just too lazy to Google it.
I finally had the chance to use the polka dot wall! Like I said, there is a lot of variety on Center Street.
The last few are around the Nu Skin campus. We take advantage of the different paint, trees, and other locations for the perfect photograph. I whittle the selection of photos and then let the senior pick their favorites that they might want me to Photoshop.
This is my personal favorite just for the unique composition with the water spouts. We had to shoot about 100 photos to get the right one. All you need is one good one.
