The Bonneville Salt Flats rock as a location for a photo shoot. There are some downsides. Sometimes the Bonneville Salt Flats are covered in water. Sometimes a car might get stuck in the salt flats if it finds a wet spot. Towing can be $400!!
Sometimes some car racers rent the entire salt flats and won’t let anyone else onto the salt flats. Boo! Share the flats man.
And sometimes the weather goes south. It can be a lucky break though as long as it doesn’t rain. In this case we had storm clouds and that just created a cool atmosphere for the photo shoot.
There have been a number of times storms show up on my photo shoots on the salt flats. This photo shoot had 3 models and a BMW on the salt flats. We were able to spend about an hour before we had to evacuate. But we got some great photos.
When a man has a great tattoo you gotta take the shirt off to show the tattoo.
The salt flats are indeed flat. To help make a better photo shoot it can be helpful to have a prop to add to the shoot. In this case we are using a BMW. Models and cars are a perfect combination.
Usually the summer is the best time for photos on the Bonneville Salt Flats. But there is no guarantee it will work. They could be covered in water. That seems to be the biggest threat. There are times the race cars have to cancel racing due to the water. You can work with the water but not with strobes. Electricity and water don’t mix.
