When I reinvented my blog and website one goal I had was to avoid talking about my photography gear. I think that gear talk may distract from my real goal of creating amazing and creative photographs. Too often photographers get bogged down talking about the latest cameras, lenses, and lights. I have plenty of gear lust for sure.
However, I haven’t been blogging as much as I should be. I take hundreds of photographs a month but at times I am lucky if I blog once a month. It is a continuing goal to blog and share via social media more often… so now, as long as it features photographs I might talk a little about gear.
BTW, if you want to see regular photographs check out my Instagram. It is a mix of iPhone photos and photographs from my big cameras as well. It is a mix of personal, professional, and sometimes just off the wall stuff I find interesting. And there are a bunch of photos of my nephews and nieces.
So here are a random collection of photos from my newest camera… the Fuji X-T1. This is as close to street photography as I will get. And it is my chance to practice natural light photography. Usually I am using speedlights and strobes to light my subjects.
And the Fuji X-T1 is the camera I carry with me every day I don’t have an assignment. It is small and lightweight but takes pretty good photographs. It is unassuming and I don’t look like a pro when I carry it around.
And I have started using the camera at some events and even at a wedding! I’ll be sharing that wedding in a few weeks hopefully. The camera creates photographs that appear more like classic film photographs and that is the charm of the camera.
This disco ball is at the top of an elevator shaft in someone’s home. How cool is that?!
Last photo… I don’t think this guy’s name is Jesus but the beard and the hair just give him that appearance. This is how Jesus would look if he were a hipster today. It could happen.
