Product Photography with Pink LumiSpa Heads

by dav.d

It’s product photography Wednesday! That is not a thing, but I’m not sure how to start this blog post.

I was approached by the Latin American markets for product photography. They launched the new pink ageLOC LumiSpa and they needed photos of the new replaceable heads for the device. They already had photos of the gentle head but they needed photos of the normal and the firm heads.

Since these were specific for the market, I had to track down the heads. They had been used on demo units so I spent some time cleaning them with soap and water, dust sprays, and wet wipes. And even then there was some Photoshop needed to make these product photograph clean.

I recreated 3 photos from the blue heads. I was imitating the lighting and setup of 2 different photographers to create these photos. Imitation is an important skill. I also used photo stacking to get the whole head in focus. Macro photography often requires this technique. It isn’t perfect so manual work is required as well.

And with Valentine’s Day approaching, these pink heads should be pretty popular. They’re really pushing the pink LumiSpa for the holiday it seems.

If you don’t know what the LumiSpa is, you should check it out. It is a face cleaning device that uses these heads rather than brushes.
