I have been the event photographer for Jason Olsen’s Halloween party for a number of years now. Each year the event just grows and grows. The venue keeps changing as they find the need for larger and larger locations. The event is also a fundraiser for the Utah Pride Center and they cohost this event to raise funds for the center.
You can find all my photographs here.
This was the second night in the row to photograph Halloween parties. So I was living off minimal sleep, caffeine, and disappointment from a football game earlier in the day.
Prestman Auto was one of the sponsors and supplied several cars out front for photo ops as people arrived. They even had a Delorean, made famous by the Back to the Future movie.
The current rule in Halloween is find a topic and make it sexy. So we have the sexy costumes for Winnie the Pooh. You can do this with anything: sexy nurse, sexy corpse, sexy nerd… did we learn nothing from Mean Girls?
While I shot the candid photography. Alex Gallivan shot the step-and-repeat. You can find his photography from the night here.
No ideas for a costume? Use items from your childhood like Boy Scout uniforms or police outfits.
For the event they had light dancers… this side is the safe for work photograph.
Voodoo Productions was there with light robots, velociraptors, and monsters on stilts.
This is the safe for work version of the body painting. They had a male and female being painted in black light paint for a fun festive live art display.
