I was hired as the photographer for the new CycleBar in South Jordan, Utah. CycleBar is a cycling franchise that is starting to grow quickly. They offer classes each day and have subscriptions. They definitely have a strong social media presence. And they have a brand guideline for much of the photography.
The main requirement was each trainer needed a full length photograph and a headshot on a pure white background. And they needed to shoot these on site if possible to we could then recreate some bonus photographs of the trainers in the cycle room and in front of the building.
Here is a behind the scenes photo of the lighting setup. I needed lights for the background and the subject. I needed two lights on the subject to light the body evenly. I also used a diffusion panel on the window to block direct sunlight. I set this up after the morning class left.
After the white seamless portraits we created some fun photos that can be used in social media and so a fun, energetic personality for the location.
Here is the lighting setup for outside. We had to block the sun with the light and light the subject evenly. Everyone looked amazing. I love my lighting setup, it’s versatile and powerful.
I couldn’t block the sun entirely in this photo, but I was able to over power it just enough so people look their best.
The rest of the time was spent in the cycle room. We rotate through the trainers and we picked different spots. I even brought out a red gel to add to the atmosphere.
