Companies love updated headshots of their employees, especially the people in security. Occasionally you run into the person who has had their employee ID and headshot for 20 years and they look a little bit different.
These photos are from 2017 and most of them are right out of camera. The instruction is usually no Photoshop retouching because we want the people to look like the actual person. I don’t go overboard on retouching by the way. You will still look like you, just the best version of you.
The secret to getting the shot correct and looking fabulous out of camera is lighting. You put the people in good light, pose them in such a way that they have no double chin, you say something witty, and you hope for a good expression. Sometimes getting a good expression takes a while, but when we have a line of 20 people, time is of the essence.
This week, I’ll be photographing the employees again! So I figured I should share these photos from 2 years ago. Maybe we’ll see how people have changed in 2 years. I now sport a beard!
I will also be using a new lighting system for the headshots. I don’t know if that will change the look too much, but it will hopefully make things easier.
And tomorrow, I will be shooting headshots for another small business. That shoot will happen if the weather is permitting, because it will be outside, possibly while snowing?!
