Today’s post comes from an orphanage in Malawi, Africa. The HIV/AIDS crisis has devastated many countries around the world and much of the effect is felt by the children who survive their parents passing. I was able to visit this orphanage with Nu Skin and their Force for Good Foundation which has helped donate to the orphanage. There is a school and other support for the kids. Some are there as babies and will spend so much time at the orphanage.
When we visit the orphanage we meet in their school. Some of the children share a talk or sing. They demonstrate things they have learned in the school. Hopefully these skills will prepare them when they become adults.
After the school meeting we go outside and the kids play with new toys and gifts that have been donated from our Korean, Indonesian, and Chinese distributors. Balls for catch, airplanes, and jump ropes are some of the donated items. The kids come alive playing together and with the guests. Some people learn some of the traditional dances from Malawi.
The smiles from the kids are genuine and melt your heart. Hug your kids! They are life’s little treasures.
It was a whirlwind of activity that I was trying to photograph. I needed photos of the kids playing, singing, interacting with the distributors, and more. Everything became a photograph to tell a unique story. It can definitely become a life altering event.
