Wow, this is the 3rd blog post this week of a newborn baby that I have photographed. Just so you know I have photographed just 3 babies in the last 7 months… for me that is a record.
This is little baby Harper. She lives near South Jordan with her two big sisters and her moms. I’ve had the chance to photograph her sisters and their moms’ wedding. So call my a family photographer!
Little baby Harper was just over a week old when we photographed her in their home. I brought over some vinyl floor covers that look like different type of wood for some variety of the background. We used an old basket to hold Harper. In fact part way through we cut the handle off the basket. Those are great for baby holders. I had a number of different faux fur shag rugs and different color cheesecloth for drapping the baby. And someone had gifted them several knitted outfits… including a mermaid outfit.
Harper was awake for the entire photo shoot. She did have an meal break part way through and she needed a little bit of solace when she cried but she was very well behaved.
I usually don’t like to retouch baby’s skin. Photoshop is for old people like me. However, Harper had some flaky skin and I did some removal or reduction of the flaky skin. These are probably my best baby photos to date! Thank you to the people who gifted the knitted outfits. They really were unique and fun.
I had ordered a few more colorful cheesecloth options. I was nervous they wouldn’t arrive in time for the photo shoot but they arrived the day before. Woo hoo!
Here are a few of the detail shots of the feet, hands, eyes, and such.
We photographed Harper with a stuffed animal that she can use as a measuring tool in the future. Just photograph her with the animal every month and you have some treasured memories as she grows up.
We started the photo shoot with Harper, Britain, and Ryanne. Ryanne doesn’t like me (or most strangers). I’ll have to go back into my archives and find Britain and Ryanne’s baby photos and post those.
