Music & Dance in Malawi

by dav.d

Visiting another country is definitely a learning experience. You can observe the different dance and music traditions of a country. I created some awesome photographs of villagers as they performed for the Nu Skin distributors. These included the masked dancers, villagers dancing as they greet the guests, and chorus of villagers singing.

These masked dancers were dancing as our caravan traveled the dusty roads of Malawi. They knew we were in the area and were ready to perform for tips and money.

Communal singing? Is that a term? They villagers will clap and sing. Typically the women of the village will sing. The men of the village will drum.

This little girl was watching… my guess is she wanted to hang out with her mother. But it turns out to be a fun photograph of the generations. In a few years, she’ll be dancing for the village.
