Scouting for locations can be tiring work. And sometimes it involves a bit of travel. My friend Stephen works as a trucker for several cities in Utah and he knew of a few locations that might work as ghost towns. We also thought it would be fun to check out the Bonneville Salt Flats. I had never been to the Salt Flats before so this felt like a fun mission. Who know that the salt flats are 90 minutes from Salt Lake City?! Now we know.
So we packed up my studio lighting and we headed south. We ended up by Silver City which had an old house or shed or something. We spent about an hour there and then drove off to the salt flats.
I doubt I will use this location much. Too much driving for little payoff but the salt flats are another deal.
The salt flats are pretty cool. From what I understand summer is the best time if you want them dry. They do get covered in water when it rains and during the winter they can be pretty wet and look like a mirrored lake.
