Meet the Leasey extended family. My friend Andrew wanted photographs of his brothers’ families and so he hired me to photograph the whole group and the kids.
We photographed in Studio o2o which is located in Draper. There are a lot of different studio spots in Salt Lake valley it can be fun to use any one of them. Each tries to offer unique backgrounds. We photographed primarily on a simple white background but we also photographed the kids in front of the graffiti wall in the front of the studio.
I’m an uncle as well and so I understand Andrew’s love for his nephews and nieces. They’re the next generation and they already have big and unique personalities that are fun to capture with a camera.
We also photographed the siblings and their spouses. I’m sure we could come up with infinite combinations. We’re just limited to the time of the photo shoot.

The individual children’s portraits were shot in the front of the studio where there is a custom graffiti painted. It’s colorful and fun. And unlike graffiti found in the “real” world we don’t have to worry about naughty words or such.

And it is fun to give guidance on where to stand or sit and then just let the kids’ personalities open up. That is when a portrait is more honest and you’ll remember the kids as they were.
Sure we like the “smile for the camera” but their own unique pose and expression becomes priceless over time.
