I was selected to help photograph the wedding of Kamrin and Manuel at the First Baptist Church in Sugarhouse. Afterwards the reception was held at The Tower at Rice-Eccles Stadium. This was part of QSalt Lake Magazine’s wedding give away. They like to feature a gay or lesbian wedding each year and the services and reception are donated to the couple. It is a chance to get photos into the magazine and hopefully get some advertising.
Kamrin and Manuel have several children in their family and they played the role of flower girl and ring bearer. It is always entertaining to watch kids navigate the aisle. Half the time the flower girl forgets her flowers and this time the ring bearer dropped the rings.
The First Baptist Church has been one of the first churches to perform gay weddings or commitment ceremonies in Utah. Pretty remarkable that they have been doing them for years now. Kamrin and Manuel will be having a legal marriage in Vermont (I believe it is Vermont).
The wedding ceremony included several traditions including coins, candles, ribbon and more. I am guessing the couple might be covering their bases with the different traditions. Usually you may have one. I’m not judging, just making note.
After the wedding ceremony the couple and everyone went to The Tower at Rice-Eccles Stadium for the celebration and reception. Catering was provided by Le Croissant Catering. There was a cake cutting, belly dancers, champagne, and more. A pretty full evening of celebration.
