The middle of December might not have the best weather for outdoor photography. However, the weather was fairly mild for this photo shoot. Jhonathan wanted some headshots and portraits that he could use in modeling portfolios. Every model needs some quality headshots. So we braved the colds and used Provo’s Historic Center Street for the photography.
I would like to empathize with models… if they are wearing t-shirts in weather I would like to do the same. However, to do my job best as a photographer I need to be warm and stay warm. I also need my jacket with pockets to keep things handy. And if my fingers freeze up then controlling a camera gets unwieldy. So I feel your pain, I really do. Just remember, if you are going into modeling or acting, you will often be working in cold or hot situations. Many swimsuit photo shoots are done in the middle of winter in preparation for the summer swimsuit season. And you have to pretend it is warm to boot!
Fortunately, some of the outfits that Jhonathan decided to model had a jacket or a hoodie. And using one light I was able to keep things portable and we were able to move quickly and not spend a lot of time lugging equipment. We might as well spend our time photographing and getting the best shots possible. We shot in the morning while the sun was still low in the sky.
For most modeling portfolios there is little to no retouching done to the skin, face, hair or such. People want to see the real you.
