The HRC VIP party was held at A Gallery in Salt Lake City. The gallery is in the Foothills area and has some pretty cool artwork which made a wonderful location for the party. They have a very cool patio where people mixed and mingled and heard some rallying speeches.
As the event photographer, I focus on the people in attendance, but I always capture the food, if it is photogenic. And I try and capture the decor and atmosphere of the event. People put good money into the details, and they need to be documented.
And events certainly have helped me out of my introverted shell. It gives me a chance to break the ice with some people as I create a group photograph. I certainly have to play the role as extrovert. And I’m getting pretty good at it.
And people like great photographs of themselves. Granted an actual portrait session would be the best for the best photo in the history of the world, but I make people look awesome an an event.
And it is Savannah Kester and another future LGBTQI+ leader from the next generation. Woo hoo!
In a few days I’ll post some of my favorite HRC Gala photos from the next day. Come back to my website to discover more photography!
