Getting Creative with a Bride & Groom’s Portraits

by dav.d

Yep, I’m starting to feature some of my wedding photography on my main website. And what do I start to feature? Photographs created in Photoshop!

Meet Joel & Carissa. Joel is my brother and Carissa is one of my favorite sisters-in-law. They were married in Snowflake, Arizona in the middle of winter. Perhaps not the most photogenic time of the year. So I did grab a few photographs where I was going to replace the background with Photoshop.

In one case I used apple blossoms from a Spring time shot from an Orchard in Provo. The other is a stock photograph of a desert which turns out to be in Africa. Joel & Carissa live in Arizona and it seemed appropriate to add them to a desert locale for at least one photograph.

Getting too creative in Photoshop might not work for the wedding industry. Brides seem to shy away from anything that seems too crazy. They aren’t wanting Hollywood special effects for their wedding photographs. But I think it is something that can be considered. Heck, what bride hasn’t thought about a Disney princess wedding? Without the evil villain of course.

One of these days I will blog more photos from Joel & Carissa’s wedding. They have been married for almost 2 years already and I haven’t blogged them!
