It’s another big blog post with photos of Rachel Hone. She specializes in training people with chronic health conditions. Rachel herself lives with rheumatoid arthritis and she’s the coach! Check out her website here.
We photographed during one of her classes at the Provo Ice Arena, which was a 2002 Olympic venue. I brought my lighting to give an edgy look to the photography. The class is able to train people of various levels. You get more weight or more challenges depending on your ability. My challenge was to move the lights to each station. We ended up going through the class at a normal pace and then we repeated the class specifically for the photography. In both cases I had to be quick to change lighting according to the activity. We got some awesome photographs.
For a shoot like this, because the photos will be used for a commercial purpose, we obtained model releases from all the participants. And they have some cool photographs of them training, double score!
At the end of the session I photographed Rachel by herself for some headshots, and posed shots for her marketing materials and website.
I worked to find the photographs of Rachel demonstration technique and also giving that individual motivation to the different trainees. It helps tell her story as a trainer.
If you need a fitness photographer, I can help out, yay!
