Encircle hosted Ignite at UVU in 2017. It was a conference for LGBTQ+ youth living in Utah County. It was the first conference of it’s kind in Utah County and I was happy for the chance to document the event. There were classes, seminars, activities, musical performances, and more.
There were a number of musical artists who performed including Tyler Glenn from the Neon Trees. He recently came out and has become a bit of an activist.
There were a number of families in attendance. It was heartwarming to see parents there to support their children. Coming out is a frightening experience.
And it was fun to see the diversity at the event. Yes, Utah is predominantly white but there were people of many backgrounds there. This was a group for Latinos. I should have written down the name of the group.
And they had several videographers, story tellers, and photographers to help tell the story of people in attendance.
