Early Morning Selfie with Behind the Scenes

by dav.d

Saturday mornings usually mean sleeping in and relaxing from a busy week. Boy was I misinformed! I woke up on my own, without help of an alarm clock, at 5am! Since I was awake I might as well shower and go watch and photograph the lunar eclipse and the blood moon that appears during the full effect of the eclipse. I tried out 2 different cameras just to see which would work better at this historic event. Here are 6 of the phases of the moon combined into one image. The images are right out of camera so the color shift is probably from the camera thinking that the color was accurate. I like the color changes personally and so I left them as is.

And I did have another reason to wake up on a Saturday morning… I was going to be photographing a Toyota Land Cruiser. While I was waiting for the car to arrive I created a few photographs of me! Yep, a true selfie. This is not your ordinary selfie on an iPhone. This was with a studio strobe and the camera on a tripod pre-focused to a certain distance. I used a PocketWizard to trigger the flash. I had the setup all ready—I might as well use it.

And here is the behind the scenes photograph. Both of these cameras are straight out of the camera with no retouching. Pretty cool what a light can do! Spring is here! Perfect time for photography!
