Congrats, Cassie & Talley! They were married a few weeks ago and here are their engagement photographs. They chose historic Main Street in Park City for their engagement session. The nice thing about Park City is the 10 degrees of “air conditioning.” If it is too hot in Salt Lake City the Park City is slightly cooler and more fun!
We started on Main Street but we moved around and ended up hunting for some different and unique locations. We found a mix of colorful houses, new houses, ski lifts, middle of the road and more.
These are a few of my favorite photos. Sometimes it is hard to whittle the photos down. In the future I want to be more selective but often what I like isn’t what a client likes. So a bit of variety is important.
I like to photograph in the evenings… the temperatures are more manageable in the evenings and the light is so much nicers and leads to better photographs. I check online to see when sunset will happen on certain days so we can pick the optimal time. The mountains can be a bit of a curve ball but we can work with them.
We didn’t have any outfit changes for this session. Clients are always welcome to bring outfit changes, accessories, or props. They did bring a small sign shaped like an “&” for a Cassie & Talley moment. We did incorporate that into a few photographs. Any time a client has an idea I am listening because I want these photo shoots to be personal and meaningful. I don’t ever want to be the dictator photographer. I’m pretty dang flexible.
I definitely have been developing my style of photography. Most often I am using my portable lighting to make my subjects look their best. It still looks natural and at times dramatic. And I think it does wonders for people’s skin tones. I don’t need to spend much time in Photoshop thanks to the lighting.
I’ll try and blog Cassie’s bridals and the wedding photographs in the next few weeks. Woo hoo!
