I don’t specialize in baby photography and I would not call myself a baby photographer. Fortunately, I do have some friends and family who volunteer up their newborn babies for me to photograph to get some practice under my belt. I did a great job and my best job ever for a newborn baby. This is Little Baby Britain™ She was born to Julianne and Amy and she is cute as a button.
We even did the baby sans ropa for this shoot. The key is to keep everything hidden and I had to clean off some baby poop since that was in the photograph. We photographed Britain for about an hour while she was awake, asleep, and even some candid snap shots while mommy changed outfits and fed her.
The key to baby photography is a space heater, they’ve eaten, and are sleeping. We do are best to move and position the baby during the photo shoot.
As I mentioned, I don’t specialize in baby photography. To do so I would need props, blankets, backgrounds, and more. I would have to eat, sleep, and breath baby photography. I don’t have tutus, faux fur throw rugs, or cutesy backgrounds for babies. There are a lot of photographers who do specialize in baby photography though. I’ll keep practicing though. And I would like to develop a style for baby photography. Some of my favorite is featuring the interaction between baby and mother.
