Baby James’ Newborn Photos

by dav.d

I used one ginormous light for this baby photo shoot. James was a few months old when we shot him. It’s best to get the baby photographed in the first 2 weeks of birth because they sleep a lot and they’re malleable. However, there is no reason to not photograph a baby early and often. They only get larger. They aren’t waiting for anyone.

I don’t have a huge amount of props. There are baby photographers who specialize in baby photos and they have the latest hats, bonnets, dresses, outfits, dolls, and other accessories for a baby shoot. I only shoot babies on occasion so I have a few wraps, furry looking throws, and a basket. I do have vinyl backgrounds that look like wood and rustic wood.

James was pretty easy to work with. He smiled more than the photos suggest. But he was also curious and giving furrowed brows, which were pure cuteness. Babies look like crotchety old men when they do that.

We had a fun time and ended up with some good photos of the wee bern.
