Autumn is a great time of year for family photo shoot. This year I think I had about 4 photo shoots with families in various spots in Salt Lake and Utah County. This family portrait session was in Big Springs Park up Provo Canyon with the little Arrington family. Mom and dad were excited for their first big time photo shoot with little A.J. It took a few minutes for him to warm up and then he was all smiles, grins, and laughs.
We typically photograph for up to an hour and we shoot the whole family and then combinations of mom and son, dad and mom, and more. The advantage of this park was the flexibility, we shot all these photos within 150 feet of each spot, so we didn’t have to move much. We just turned and there was a new perfect location.
The evening was overcast and the sun was starting to set. We don’t have control over the weather but with my lighting I am able to create awesome photographs anyway. Otherwise people might have to reschedule and that isn’t always an option.
There were snowcapped mountains in the background for this photograph. And we don’t have deer in the photo, but while we were shooting there were about 5-8 deer running in this giant meadow. It was a beautiful sight. And we created some cool photos as well.
Adorable families make my job as photographer easy. I’ll make turkey noises or my impersonation of Elmo, Mickey, or other characters helps to get the kids to react for the camera.
And one more photo of Junior. Yay!
