Get ready for a blast from the past! These engagement photos were created in September of 2008! I haven’t published them to my website yet, so here they are! These photos are from when I was using Nikon cameras! So much has changed. At the time gay marriage was not yet legal. Amy and Julianne were going to marry in Vermont and we photographed their engagements here in Utah.
For these engagements, Amy brought her son Taylor along. We had a combined engagement shoot and family shoot. Today, Amy and Julianne have 3 daughters in addition to Taylor. Blogging with hindsight is a lot of fun.
These photos were all shot with natural light photography… meaning no flash. Today I use flash regularly in my photos. The nice thing is I can turn the flash off when I think the available light is perfect and we may not need the flash.
We had a lot of fun with the International Peace Garden. The landscaping is beautiful. There are a variety of textures. It provides a lot of beautiful variety in one spot.
And back in 2008 I used a lot of Photoshop presets and special effects. I don’t do that very much any more. It is interesting how taste and style changes and evolves over time. I usually keep the originals. I can always go back and reprocess images. And as the software improves the renderings improve!
