The world is divided into two kinds of people, dog people and weirdos. There is so much to enjoy from a dog. Perpetual hope, friendship, wet kisses, and more. And there are so many dogs out there already that need a home. Many of them are purebred, all they need is a rescue forever home.
Autumn portraits
Autumn is a wonderful time of year for portraits, headshots, and even photos with your dog. Or in the case of Meg and her friend Karen, they have rescued 3 dogs. And we have Hilo, the heeler, Molly the Jack Russell Terrier, and Winnie the Manchester Terrier. They were completely adorable. Sometimes they would look at the light instead of me. Other times they would give doggie kisses or look around with curiosity. *

Rescue dogs are also cheaper than purebred dogs from a puppy mill or from breeders. And usually the animals are housebroken, which is awesome.
Behind the scenes of the orchard shoot
Winnie the Manchester Terrier was very skittish to me. Apparently, she is skittish to most men. Which happens when some dogs are abused by a previous owner. But we did get enough photos with all the dogs looking in my direction. I make noises, lots of dog noises, to get their attention. *

We started in the orchard and then worked our way up to the Provo Amphitheater, aka the Provo Castle. It was a beautiful autumn morning with great color in the trees. We shot a lot more photos, but I’m showing just a small sample of my favorites.

We even saw some deer in the orchard. In some of the photographs they showed up as brown blobs in the background. Fortunately, the dogs kept us safe.

The primary purpose of this photo shoot was the headshots of Meg. We shot those first. She has a personal project she is working on and it required some headshots. And I am working to become the king of headshots. Woo hoo!
