Lisa & Noah’s Newport Beach Wedding Photography

by dav.d

March in Utah can be wintery or summery… often in the same day! I was out in California in the Newport Beach area to photograph Lisa and Noah’s wedding! They were married in the LDS Newport Beach Temple. The wedding ceremony in the temple is a private affair and there are no cameras allowed. So we photograph the bride and groom before the ceremony… getting ready. We photograph them as they leave the temple and meet with family.

Getting ready photos can be quite fun. The bride will usually spend more time getting ready with hair and makeup. Grooms just shower, save, and fall into their suits. Guys are easy.

I had arrived in Newport Beach the day before the wedding so I would be prepared. We did photograph their engagements the day before and I also took some photos of the Newport Beach temple.

I like to get the family, friends, and group photos done first and quickly. We then have time to focus on the bride and groom. We photographed Lisa and Noah around the temple grounds. The area is small but has a lot of beautiful areas for photography.

We then went to the pier on the beach in Newport Beach and created a few more formal wedding portraits. I wish I had more time… photographers can always use more time. Dinner and the reception were nearby.

Noah definitely has a fun personality. Some of the photos have him carrying the bride like a bag of fruit. The cake cutting featured a cake smash and the groom tries to like the bride clean. It is fun to capture these candid moments of the wedding couple.

The wedding reception had a beach theme with purple and tan color scheme. I loved the starfish which were used to show the seating chart. I took advantage of the sand and starfish to photograph the wedding rings. It’s a personal challenge to get the rings into unique spots and settings.

I had a great time in California with Lisa and Noah. Southern California has the perfect weather year round and I’m jealous of the photographers that live and work in the area. But then, I live in Utah, and Utah has its own unique locations, weather, and spirit. Thank goodness there are airports… I can fly anywhere and photograph people and make them look awesome.
