My family traveled up to Ogden to attend the Ogden Temple open house. The LDS church spent considerable resources redesigning and remodeling this sacred building. For a few weeks this summer they have opened the doors of the temple for visitors to see what a temple looks like on the inside.

Temples are certainly beautiful structures. The LDS church as built or announced 170 of these structures around the world. The Ogden Temple was first build in 1972 and remodeling was started in 2011.

I brought my camera along to take some photographs of the family and of the temple itself. If I was to properly photograph the temple I would need a tripod and show up right before sunset or sunrise. The light at 2pm is not ideal for building photography. And during dusk or dawn the lights of the temple come on and we have much better light for photographs.

There are several photographers I know of who specialize in LDS Temple photography and their work has been truly stellar.
In the coming years I hope I have the opportunity to photograph brides and grooms who are married in the Ogden Utah Temple. Faithful members of the LDS church are married in temples and their marriages are sealed for time and all eternity. It is the heart of the LDS message that families are together forever.

The building truly remarkable. Mahogany wood from Africa, marble from Egypt, and other stone from China and Turkey were used as building material.
