Help Desk Corporate Headshots on Location

by dav.d

I do have a day job. I work down in Provo as a web designer and mobile app designer. It is a fun and creative job. And occasionally I will create some photographs for the company. I’ve photographed their cafeteria menu, events, and headshots. So I wasn’t too surprised to be asked to photograph the Help Desk department. I was surprised when security stopped by to see what I was doing. Once I explained what I was doing things went smoothly, although I should have just mentioned I was an employee.

Once the photos started things were awesome. It only took about 20 minutes to get the group photograph by the logo/sculpture. It was a bit of a challenge since it is completely reflective as a mirror. And then we created some individual headshots inside. The architecture is pretty cool and the architect is the same person who designed many of the Apple stores. So the interior of the building created a great background for the portraits. The headshots will be used on the company’s intranet.

For these shots I used my portable lighting setup. Makes it pretty easy to move indoors and outdoors. Everything was powered by AA batteries, which helps keep things lightweight. Next week I’ll be photographing scientists and they need a white background. That will require my big studio lights. Always fun.
